Music filled the room with a wonderful Brazilian beat as bright sun rays streamed in through the windows. A bottle of red wine was opened and a glass poured for the father-to-be. Freshly cut gerberas and tulips were placed on the dining table and on windowsills, perfectly complimenting the sunny February afternoon.

This maternity session in The Hague has quickly become one of my favourites. The afternoon was so relaxed. It’s a privilege to witness the love and affection of a couple anticipating the arrival of their first baby; to capture it in photographs for them to treasure always is such a joy.

With the passing of time, photographs come to be a beautiful piece of your family history. One day, I imagine their son will look back with curiosity to see what his parents’ lives were like while they were awaiting his arrival. Perhaps one day far from now, these images will be discovered by a grandchild too.
