mindful, gentle, sentimental

I’m Natalie, a photographer and visual storyteller for families welcoming a new baby into their lives. I’m based in The Hague, The Netherlands.

I believe there is no bond stronger than mother and child.

After the sudden loss of my own mother at a young age, photographs have been (and continue to be) a significant part of my healing process.

Photography is a beautiful gift. A gift of memories.

One day in the future, photographs of your everyday ordinary moments will be treasured beyond what you can imagine today. They become your family history; and your legacy.

I feel very fortunate to preserve your memories this way, and to help you in creating a collection of stunning heirloom albums that will be enjoyed and loved for generations.

Originally from Bolton in the UK, the combination of post-graduate employment and a Masters degree sponsorship from the UK Ministry of Defence brought me to The Netherlands.

Initially, I was on secondment to the NATO C3 Agency in The Hague.

I went on to work for NATO as a digital forensics and security accreditation specialist; receiving recognition for outstanding service by the NATO HQ Supreme Allied Commander Transformation for my untiring devotion to duty and distinct accomplishments as the Deputy Security Lead for NATO’s premier interoperability Exercise.

Then at the age of 26, I took a leap of faith and changed my career trajectory because I had fallen deep in love with photography.

There is much to blame on a visit to South Africa in the summer of 2003 where I spent six weeks on a safari field guide training course. This led to ‘wildlife photography holidays’ in India and several countries in Africa. It was watching a moment unfold, not knowing what would happen next and trying to capture it that I was enamoured by; the excitement, the anticipation, moments where you catch your breath, and your heart beats faster and harder.

Back home in The Netherlands, I made maternity portraits for a friend; it was so beautiful to do and it was the catalyst to starting my business.

Now happily married to my German husband, we have two daughters who are growing up Dutch. Two cats complete our family, although we are now down to one.

I photograph our everyday ordinary moments, not only for me, but for our daughters too. One day, 10, 20, 30 years from now, I believe they will be as nostalgic and curious about the years gone by as I am today. The photographs I make are my gift to them.

It brings me great joy to do the same for your family too.

I’ve been photographing families and babies for over a decade. I feel privileged to document your stories, and to be part of them.

I can’t wait to hear from you!

“It was one of the best things that happened to us in 2013, that we have discovered your work. Thank you for sharing the special moment with us. It was inspiring to see how much genuine love you put into your work and all the babies you encounter. We feel honoured to be part of this.”
