There have been lots of memorable moments in the last couple of months so it was certainly a challenge choosing which photos to share in this month’s Impressions blog post! ;-)
Here’s my selection and a quick recap of family life in September and October (I couldn’t quite stick to 8 so you’re getting a couple of bonus images in this round-up!):

[1] Kinderboerderij, Delftse Hout
“hello chicken…” ;-)

[2] First checkup at the dentist
Rebekka was sat at the children’s table in the waiting area colouring in a picture of a tooth, toothbrush and toothpaste when the dentist came out to introduce herself and joined Rebekka in colouring in the picture. In the dentist’s room, Rebekka got to go up-and-down on the chair and she played with a blown-up glove that had a face on it. She was also given a new toothbrush and shown how to clean her teeth (which was brilliant – it made brushing her teeth in the following weeks really easy, she loved the new toothbrush that the nice dentist had given her!) And just as we were leaving, Rebekka got to choose a little present – a pink ring! It was a really fun experience for Rebekka :-)

[3] Apple-picking at Landgoed de Olmenhorst
It was a surprisingly warm and sunny day when we visited Olmenhorst at the end of September – Summer was lingering a little longer this year, it was lovely. We met up with friends in the cafe and first enjoyed coffee and cake, then stopped by the playground for the little ones to have some fun and picnicked on the grass before heading off to the orchard to pick apples. Can you spot Papa in this photo? haha! The best apples were high up, so Rebekka was sat on Papa’s shoulders to pick them. I’m not sure this was the most pleasant experience for Papa, who was repeatedly smothered by either a faceful of leaves or the bag in which Rebekka was collecting the apples!

[4] Apple-picking (and eating!) at Landgoed de Olmenhost
Bonus photo! Even more fun than picking apples was sharing the day with friends.

[5] Meijandal Dunes, Scheveningen
We’ve been shopping! Rebekka selected the pinkest helmet she could find to go with her pink bike (and pink coat and pink shoes!) – seems pink is her favourite colour for clothing and accessories! Seemingly the result of a new ‘go-faster’ helmet, she’s become a bit of a dare devil as she balances and glides along at speed!

[6] 41 weeks pregnant
I was in need of some me-time so while Papa stayed home with Rebekka at nap-time, I took to my bike and cycled through the dunes, stopping at one of the tallest sand dunes and climbing the steps to admire the view. Turns out this was the last belly photo – Lea was born the following day!

[7] Bronovo Ziekenhuis. Ready to go home!
Another bonus photo! Lea is just two hours old here and we’re waiting to leave the hospital. Obviously, this is not a photo that I took – I have my husband to thank for this one ;-)
[8] Sisters
Rebekka woke up in the morning to discover a ‘real’ baby! She is so sweet with her little sister and loves to hold her. So adorable!

[9] Lea’s first bath, 3 days old
Our kraamverzorgster (maternity nurse) gave Lea her first bath, proudly assisted by Rebekka.

[10] Big sister duties
“Sssshhhh.. it’s okay…” I am seriously *melting* every time I see how sweet Rebekka is with Lea! :-)
‘Impressions‘ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. We aim to share the inspiration behind what we do through our bi-monthly posts.
Every other month, we will be sharing 8 images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks: our families, nature, weather, or maybe even work itself! We are free to explore the meaning of ‘impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month.
Say hello in the comments below and then hop on over to see what Vinita of Vinita Salomé Photography is sharing this month :)
With love,
~ Natalie
